Mount Kazbek, which was reached in 1868 first time, is an impressive experience of climbing and mountaineering. Its elevation above sea level is 5054 meters and is located on Khokhi ridge in Kazbegi (Stepantsminda). After ascending the summit you will appear in the mysterious surrounds of velvety mountains. You can see breathtaking view on central Caucasus mountain ridges. Subalpine slopes eternally covered by snow gives perfect possibility to professional mountaineers and climbers to ascend the summit, its beautiful slopes, become more confident in their physical skills, feel the strength of enchanting mountains and drown in unforgettable emotions.

Day 1: Tbilisi - Stephantsminda

 

Our journey begins at 10:00 AM in the heart of Tbilisi, where we'll meet at Rose Revolution Square in front of the Giant Bicycle Monument. From there, we'll embark on a scenic journey to Stepantsminda, also known as Kazbegi. Along the way, we'll explore Georgia's rich historical heritage, starting with the ancient capital of Mtskheta, where we'll visit the renowned Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery. Our route continues through the mountains, stopping at the impressive Ananuri Fortress and passing through the famous Gudauri Ski Resort. After a 5–6 hour drive, we'll arrive at our hotel in Stephantsminda, situated at an elevation of 1,750 meters, where dinner awaits.

 

Day 2: Ascent to Base Camp


The day starts early with breakfast at 7:00 AM, followed by a drive to the Sameba Trinity Church at 2,200 meters. Here begins our hiking adventure to the Alpine Refuge "Althut." This challenging three-hour ascent covers approximately 800 meters in elevation gain. After a well-deserved 30-minute rest, we'll continue our journey to the Mount Kazbek base camp, known as "Betlemi hut," at 3,650 meters. This second stage of hiking takes approximately three hours with a 600-meter elevation gain.

Day 3: Acclimatization and Training

This day is dedicated to proper acclimatization and preparation. After breakfast, we'll undertake an acclimatization hike to approximately 4,000 meters. The afternoon will be spent in practical training near the camp, where you'll learn essential skills including proper crampon technique - crucial for the summit attempt ahead.

Day 4: Summit Day

Summit day begins in the early hours with breakfast at 01:30 AM. By 02:00 AM, we'll start our ascent toward Mount Kazbek's summit. The first major milestone is reaching the plateau at 4,500 meters, typically taking about four hours. From there, we'll tackle the challenging climb to the Mount Kazbek saddle at 4,900 meters, navigating a 30-degree slope, before making the final push to the summit on terrain ranging from 40-45 degrees. Due to glacier conditions and crevasse hazards, the group will rope up for safety above 4,000 meters. The total climbing time ranges from 10 to 14 hours, depending on group fitness, including descending back to base camp.

Day 5: Return to Tbilisi

After breakfast at base camp, we'll begin our descent to Sameba Church, a journey that typically takes 3–4 hours. Following a visit to the church, we'll drive back to Tbilisi, covering 150 km in approximately three hours. For those wishing to extend their mountain experience, there's an option to spend an extra night in Stepantsminda at an additional cost.

Day 6: Reserve Weather Day

This day is held in reserve in case of adverse weather conditions during the scheduled summit attempt. If unused, the tour concludes on Day 5 in Tbilisi.

The tour is priced at €1,260 per person and includes comprehensive services to ensure a safe and memorable expedition.

Additional Requirements
